Days Out
Northamptonshire offers a wide range of attractions and places of interest to suit all tastes; bustling market towns, stately homes and gardens, country walks, theatres and waterways are just some of those on offer. And with its prime location in the heart of England, it is also an ideal base from which to explore other regions like Oxford, Stratford on Avon and the Cotswolds.

Why not try some of the great days out below, or check in the Directory Listings for more opportunities to discover what Northamptonshire has to offer!
Canal Museum
Housed in a restored cornmill in the picturesque village of Stoke Bruerne, the museum collection vividly portrays the heritage of 200 years of inland waterways.

This fascinating and colourful insight into a transport system, fundamental to the industrial revolution in Britain, is complemented by the "living canal" outside
with its flight of locks, boats and Blisworth Tunnel.

Explore the mysteries of this intriguing part of our heritage through working models, videos, pictorial and 3 dimensional displays portraying every aspect of the waterways. From amazing feats of engineering to the shining brass and colourful decoration that contrast so sharply with the harsh reality of canal life, you will find something to interest all the family.
