| In recent years we have seen large shopping complexes spring up all over the place, very often moving our focus away from traditional town centre shopping trips. But nothing quite matches the unique atmosphere of colourful outdoor markets and each of Northamptonshire's main towns still holds weekly markets, some having held royal charters for hundreds of years. |

Brackley
This is a general market which can be found in the centre of town on Fridays.
Corby
Situated in The Square in the centre of the town, Corby Market has a wide variety of stalls including clothing, shoes, fruit and vegetables. Monday is a bric-a-brac market and Tuesday and Saturday are general market days, with a smaller one on Thursday. A Sunday market is held out of town and details of the location and times can be obtained from the Corby Tourist Information Centre on 01536 407507.
Daventry
Having been moved from Market Place, Daventry market now takes place in the town's High Street. There is a wide range of stalls running each side of the High Street that offer a good selection from fish and meat to pet foods. The market has been in existence since about 1255 and has many long running traditions. Tuesday and Friday are general market days, although during holiday times additional market days are held.
Kettering
The traditional venue of Market Street still hosts market days in Kettering. With a small market on Tuesday, bric-a-brac and antiques on Wednesday and a general market held on Friday and Saturday, it's a busy place with a variety of stalls.
Northampton Market
Held in the town's large Market Square surrounded by shops, banks and cafes, Northampton market dates back to 1235. A general market runs from Tuesday to Saturday with a fruit and vegetable market on Mondays and bric-a-brac on Thursdays.
Northampton Market Hall
Open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday you'll find a varied selection of stalls including clothing, footwear, fresh fish and fruit. Held in Bradshaw Street.
Oundle
Found in the centre of town, this general market is held on Thursdays.
Raunds
The general market in Raunds is held on Fridays in the centre of town.
Rothwell
Rothwell's general market is held on Mondays in the town centre.
Rushden
The town's High Street hosts the general market each Saturday.
Thrapston
Held on a Tuesday, Thrapston's general market has been in existence since 1205. Now situated along the High Street.
Towcester
There are two markets held each Friday in Towcester. The Town Hall has many stalls including china, lace, linen, furniture, bric-a-bric and a café. On the A5 by the town's Racecourse, you'll find a general market.
Wellingborough
General markets are held in Wellingborough on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with a bric-a-brac and antiques market held on Tuesday. This market is now situated in Market Square and Pebble Lane.
